The St. Peters CSI Congregation (Kuwait) church choir -

Early years:

The St. Peters CSI Choir had its beginnings even before the Congregation was officially named in 1970. Our Congregation began in 1966 as family prayer meetings and the usual signing of our church hymns was lead by Mr. K K Koshy.Later in 1968, regular weekly services which were conducted in the old American Mission Hopital Building till 1971. In these services also we had organized signing and this was the forerunner of the laterday CSI Choir. With the formal naming of the Congregation as St. Peters CSI Congregation' by the then Madhya Kerala Bishop late Rt. Rev. Dr. M. M. John, the same singing grououp continured in the church. The Late Mr. G. P. John who was an experienced chorister was our formal first choir master. The choir had about 25 members and assembled at the residences of some of the members and practiced for the first christmas in 1971 which was celebrated in style. The choirmembers were given white surplices in 1974 and sang both the Malayalam & English hyms. Let us hmbly remember and thank God for enabling us to be first choir in Kuwait to do this among the Malayalee churches. We were helped by many organists enabling us to present famous anthems including the ' Halleluaih Chorus' in 1974. However Mr. G. P. John could continue only till 1975 and Mr. K KKoshy took over from there onwards. For nearly 8 years since 1975, the late Mr. John Shipton, an accomplished musician and the English Language Church organist , assisted us and introduced us to some of the most famous western hyms and melodies. By the late 70's , our children has mastered the organ planying techniques and began to help us in the church services and presentation of the christmas carols. The Choir continued its services under the guidance of the choir master Mr. K KKoshy and Associate choir master Mr. C. I. Das till the invasion of Kuwiat in 1990.
It is worth noting that the St. Peters CSI congregation Choir was the very first choir among the Kuwait Malayalee Churches. Our christmas carol singings always attracted a large audiance from other congregations for very many years to come as it does now.

Our Church Choir after the liberation of The State of Kuwait.

Immediately after the libertion of Kuwait, our Congregation started worship services on every saturdays . With a group of dedicated and talented members our Choir started again in worship services. Mr. Varghese koshy as leader and Mr.GeorgePodipara a s Associates leaders the Christmas Carol Service was conducted. As our members returned to Kuwait our congregation and choir functioned like before and Mr. M.M. John and Mr.Justin Varghese were Choir leader and associate leader.
